Sprinkle liberally with the knowledge that's it's all impermanent anyway and it really doesn't matter.

I apologise to anyone I've offended with this act.... including myself.

(If anyone is really bothered, I suppose you could subscribe to posts... or if I ever write anything actually useful, feel free to copy and paste to your own blog and credit me)

This is now an experimental blog, and ruthlessly brushing away stale posts will actually be hard.

Shiva the Destroyer

***********************

Led 2nd again today. This time I was set up right by the door in the 2nd row. it seemed more crowded than last week, an inch or two between mats and four on the stage. What happens next? Get rid of the spectators and make room in the foyer? Or let them stay, and have people setting up in the changing rooms even while there's a queue for the toilets well into surya namaskara A?

He stopped to demonstrate the 'up' after ustrasana.... just a lolasana lift, with the feet tucked behind... 'no handstand'. He left me alone in the LBH poses.... I heard him go around telling others 'spread your feet'. Tried to catch his eye after the tittibhasanas as I wasn't sure if I should stop... he wasn't looking so I carried on. Could barely lift karandavasana, got it just about up and then collapsed. He was standing nearby, thought I'd better try again straight away. So I got the very first assist.... was tired but he didn't have to do much and I caught the exit. Hung out while he went round helping all the others. Then vinyasa to the front and he told me, 'one more then go back'. So I did mayurasana more or less, but the guy in front of me's feet came apart and were wavering around half an inch from my nose.... that and the fact that I knew I was going back anyway didn't help. Three good breaths with legs together and then I kind of lost it. So do I go up to mayurasana tomorrow???

Again with a couple of others I watched, as most early finishers did their closing. Steam rose up from the first couple of rows in front of Sharath in his chair on the stage. Trying to observe without staring.... though my eyes kept being drawn to Laruga in the middle, executing everything with a flawless grace; and Ajay..... because he's beautiful (see what I can do in a temporary post?!?!). After the seven headstands they went into 3s (of course normally if adding on 3rd, you would skip the headstands). This was strictly for people who already do 3s in Mysore practice, hence some got told to stop when you got the feeling they could pull it off better than some who were carrying on.... all in all, about 25 went up to chakorasana, the 4th posture of 3rd. Then, 'only four poses, why you shaking?' There are usually a few moments in any led class where everyone is laughing. He is a comedian.

All told it took about two hours. Then some idli..... later Tova will help me catch up on a missed Sanskrit class. Then conference.

I love practicing here, but in truth I'm starting to miss my life a little. It feels self-indulgent to be doing nothing but yoga. I'd like to have some sort of project to work on next time, something a bit more formalised than working through the big book of myofascial pain.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad
